Royal Shades of Purple

"Get others to treat you like royalty. Long associated with nobility and high rank, purple is a good choice to wear when you want to take charge and gain respect." (pg. 131)

All information found in Unforgettable Color: Revlon Makeup with Confidence by Selene Milano

Words that are often associated with purple are royalty, regal, mystery, intrigue, dreamers, and sultry. There are so many shades of purple, find the one that portrays your personality.

"Deep purple can be vampish and gothic, ideal for creating a sultry evening look, whereas soft powdery lilacs give a delicate prettiness that suits flirty clothes and summer daywear." (pg. 130)

"Purple evokes passion and intrigue and is associated with...sensitivity...so the color may give you just the right mix to work magic on the opposite sex." (pg. 131)

Purple is made by mixing red and blue, so it has the unique qualities of both. The passion and sultriness of red and the calming and sensitive side of blue.

"Purple is rare in nature, which makes it an exquisite and sought-after treasure. To similarly single yourself out as a rare beauty, use the flower shades of hyacinth, violet, lilac and lavender for the eye and cheek colors." (pg. 131)

~Fairy Godmother, Cinderella

What You Need:
  • Hair tie (matching your hair) or a clear elastic
  • Bobby pins
  • Comb

1. Wrap your hair into a high ponytail, on the crown of your head. You'll want a hair tie that matches your hair color. That way you won't have to worry about hiding it later.

2. Rat the inside of the ponytail. Hang your head upside down and brush up, but make sure you only rat the part that is closest to you. Spray with hairspray.

3. Begin at the bottom and start rolling it upward. Roll it until you reach the crown of your head or your hair tie.

Mermaid Braid Tutorial

Supplies:
  • Hairspray
  • Comb
  • Clips
  • Curling iron (optional)
  • Bobbypins (matching your hair color)
  • Hair elastics
  • Flower clip

1. Part your hair into three sections. Section number one a square parting just above your ear. Sections two and three, split evenly using a diagonal part.

2. Taking the first section (above your ear) completely braid it to the ends. Just using a normal braid technique.

3. Now the middle section you are going to do a normal French braid, all the way to the ends.

4. The third section you are going to wrap around the back and begin braiding on the side, doing a normal braid all the way to the ends. All your braids should be on the same side now.

5. The braid from the first section, we are going to wrap around in a circle. Pin in place everytime you make a turn.

6. Now we are going to join braids, two and three together. First take each braid and gently tug the two outside strands, this will make the braid appear fuller. Next, place the braids side-to-side and bobby pin the inside strands on each of the braids. This is why getting bobby pins that match your hair color is important, you don't want to see the bobby pins connecting the two braids.

7. Clip a flower into the middle of the circle made by braid number one. If you leave pieces out of your braids you can curl them at the end.
